My Coffee Adventure Discovering 5 Must-Try Coffee Shops in Laguna Beach

Updated: 12 minutes ago

Laguna Beach is a haven for coffee lovers, and on my recent trip, I decided to dive into the vibrant coffee scene. From cozy corners to stunning ocean views, there’s no shortage of caffeinated delights just waiting to be discovered. Join me as I recount my coffee adventure, sampling some of the best coffee shops in this gorgeous beach town. Spoiler alert: my taste buds were thoroughly treated!

Laguna Beach Coffee Company

My top choice turned out to be the Laguna Beach Coffee Company. This is the only spot we went back to twice. Tucked away in a charming spot, this coffee shop offered delicious brews and a lively atmosphere that felt welcoming from the moment I walked in. It was always busy, mostly with locals, very early in the morning.

I decided to try their vegan dragon fruit bowl, which was vibrant and refreshing. We also went back and tried the chia-misu vegan bowl, which was just as good. It was the ideal way to kick off our coffee journey! For my caffeine fix, I opted for a lavender oat milk latte and my husband a shot of espresso. Let me tell you that espresso was strong and invigorating—just what he needed to fuel my wanderlust. When going back, I got another lavender latte and my husband got a Hot Honey latte, and let me tell you, if you like heat, then this drink is the perfect balance between heat and deliciousness.

Wild Strawberry Café

Next, I found myself at Wild Strawberry Café, a funky little spot brimming with character. Their menu had a unique blend of coffee and hearty breakfast options, so I couldn’t resist exploring their offerings.

I started with a vegan lemon poppyseed muffin that was delightfully moist and bursting with flavor. Pairing it with another lavender oat milk latte brought back the delightful notes of lavender I had enjoyed the day prior. My husband indulged in a chorizo burrito and an espresso shot, which packed a flavor punch and satisfied his hunger perfectly. This cozy cafe truly earned its place as my second favorite coffee shop in Laguna Beach.

Jedediah Coffee

If you’re looking for a unique coffee experience, then Jedediah Coffee should be on your radar! This coffee shop offers a creative menu and a beachy environment that is perfect for lounging while sipping your brew.

During my visit, I decided to try their honey rose oat milk latte, which was delicately sweet and floral. A vegan protein bowl accompanied my drink, and it was full of nutritious goodness that left me feeling energized. To make the most of our time, my husband ordered an intriguing coffee-orange juice drink, and the blend of flavors was unexpected yet delightful!

A plastic cup with iced coffee layered over orange juice sits on a white table. Blurred vase in the background. Refreshing mood.

Moongoat Coffee Roasters

For those who prefer a convenient option, Moongoat Coffee Roasters offers both drive-through and walk-up service—perfect for those on the go! The friendly baristas greeted me with smiles, and the atmosphere felt both cozy and efficient. You can also order ahead, which we didn't know until we got there. They have a separate line for pre-orders to streamline the process even more!

My husband ordered a chagaccino—an auditory delight as it was prepared—along with a regular latte made with oat milk. The drinks were expertly crafted, providing a satisfying caffeine boost that truly hit the spot. I will say, I prefer my lattes to have a sweetener, and I had to add some sugar later. I couldn’t resist adding a slice of vegan banana bread to my order, and it turned out to be the perfect complement to my drinks. It had chocolate chips and was the perfect balance of moist to dense.

Succulent Coffee Roasters

Lastly, I made a stop at Succulent Coffee Roasters. Although this shop had a beautiful ambiance, it ended up being the least appealing on my journey. I tried the lavender oat milk latte, which was nice, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations; it felt a bit more one-dimensional compared to others I had tried.

To top it all off, my husband ordered a cortado, which was decent but lacked the depth that he was hoping for. Unfortunately, they didn’t offer any dairy-free food options, and I ended up heading to Starbucks afterward to grab some breakfast. It’s worth noting that while my experience wasn't as fulfilling, the ambiance is still nice for a quick coffee break.
