The Recipe

Ingredients

This super simple Campfire Chicken Stew will make your camping trip that easier. Who wants to spend time cooking for hours while on their world exploration journey?

  • Colorado Chicken Stew Mix

  • 2 cups Chicken Chopped Up

  • 1 Chopped Onion

  • Some oil or butter

  • 6 cups of Chicken Broth

  • Pre-made biscuits

Tools:

  • Cast Iron Cooking pot

  • Mixing spoon

  • Oven Mits

*Most grocery stores will sell chicken and onion already chopped up so that you don't have to worry about having a knife or cutting board. It makes it easier for camping!

Step 1

Light your fire! If you are using a fire pit, they normally have a grate that will sit over it so that you can cook.

Step 2

Place your cast iron pot on the grate over the fire and in some oil or butter. Let this meltdown before adding in your chopped onion. Let the onion start to brown.

Keep an eye on your pot because it is hard to regulate the temperature cooking on a fire.

Step 3

Add in your chicken broth and let simmer for around 5 mins.

Step 4

Add in your chopped chicken and the Colorado Chicken Stew Mix. Let this cook for about 30 mins or until your chicken is cooked thoroughly.

Step 5

Enjoy with a side of biscuits.

I love placing a biscuit in the bowl and then topping it with the stew! Such an easy and delicious meal for camping!
