Hot Pot at Home

Fun For All

To make hot pot at home is really about your personal preferences. When I lived in China, you could order all kinds of meats and veggies for your hot pot.

What You Will Need

  • Meat

    • This is totally up to you on what kind of meat. I usually stick with chicken because that is my favorite. You can have a few different types of meat; it depends on how much you want to prep and who will be eating it.

  • Veggies

    • I like to stick to mushrooms of all kinds, potatoes, and things like that with veggies. Again, it is a personal preference!

  • Noodles

    • I love noodles in my hot pot; if you have trouble with chopsticks eating the noodles can be challenging.

  • Hot Pot Soup Base

  • Portable Burner

  • Pot

  • Chopsticks

Step 1

Prep your meats and veggies to be in bite-size pieces. Keep each food in its own separate bowl.

Place your burner in the middle of the table. Place the hot pot soup base in the pot on the burner and turn it on. This pot should be shallow to be able to get food out easily. Let it come to a boil.

Step 2

Place your prepared ingredients around the pot and let each person place their ingredient into the boiling pot. You want to make sure you wait for your ingredients to be cooked so let them boil for at least 30 seconds for veggies and a minute for meats.

You may need to let the ingredients boil longer depending on how they were prepared.

Use your chopsticks to pull out your food and enjoy!
